ARICLE:
Tonight (March 14), for example, they'll be separated by just 3.1 degrees. By Thursday (March 15), the gap between them will have extended to about 3.5 degrees. Somewhat confusingly, Jupiter and Venus also technically come into conjunction on Thursday, when they line up in another set of celestial coordinates (though they will appear farther apart then to observers on the ground than they did Tuesday).

Not sure if you have been keeping up with the solar flares that have been happening lately? Pretty interesting.

"This is happening in the sky right now. Look up and see Jupiter and Venus coming together. They are brighter than I have ever seen them."
I saw them last night and it was astounding. Time to take the high-powered binoculars outside and begin star-gazing again......
It also helps if you star gaze out in the country where there are no street lights, a much better view.
Yes - we only have a few street lights near the house - so the light issue isn't as great as, say, Savannah. But there used to be an observatory (or club) in Ludowici or Jesup, where someone was hosting telescope parties. Apparently the light problem is much less there. Supposedly one of the best places for stargazing is in Australia. Not only can you go way out in the "outback" where artificial light doesn't come into play, but you also get views of the southern sky which you can't get "up north."
I dabbled in astronomy 5 or 6 years ago, and have a nice binocular/tripod set-up. I plan to go out in the back yard again sometime - I just don't ever seem to get around to it. (I'm glad I didn't purchase an expensive telescope like I had originally planned.)
