Southern living usual means fine southern cuisine. I love the foods associated with the south, include some of the cultural foods of the Gullah and Geechee tribes. I'm looking for those local experts who can explain to me the difference between a low country boil and a Beaufort stew (other than the fact one is specific to Beaufort, S.C.). I'm looking for recipes I can try out in my own kitchen that doesn't take a technical advisor or pro chef to figure it out.
Send me quick easy recipes that I can try out. If it is an old family recipe let me know why it is special to you and your family. I'm interested in southern style food, soul food, and anything you think is strictly Georgia. I like to try different recipes in my spare time (which is not often that is why I need quick easy recipes).
I'm also looking for the best bar-b-que marinaed for steaks, any ides?

You have to try 'em.

1 lb sausage (mild)
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup bisquik

Mix by hand til everything is mushed. Roll into small balls, maybe an inch or so, put on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 or so, for about 15-20 minutes, til their done. I get nervous with pork, so I cook 'em till they are a little more than brown, mostly depends on the size of the balls.

Serve warm by themselves or with a spicy brown mustard dip.

Double the recipe and use 1lb mild and 1lb hot sausage.

Patty,

You may have been raise farther south than most of us, but you've got to know that when referring to anything, especially property, south of the Mason-Dixon it gets at capitol S. And the people who live down here would prefer if you at least shift that first S on their description, if you can't do it throughout; SOUTHERNER.
People in the Midwest won't think any differently of you if you forget to put some emphasis on their location, but Southerners are worse than Yankees about that.

Duly noted, Miami may be farther South than GEORGIA, but it is definitely not SOUTHERN.
