BRADWELL INSTITUTE FOOTBALL!!!! ARE THEY A CONTENDER OR PRETENDER !!!

Kudos goes out to a game well played by the Bradwell Institute Tigers Football team. Bradwell Institute has demonstrated and have proven themselves to be a contender in Class AAAAA Football.

For weeks, fans from different teams from around the state didn't believe that Bradwell Institue have what it takes to be a contender. They stated that Region 3-AAAAA is the weakest Region in the State, and they could played against Bradwell Institute using their Junior Varsity team and beat Bradwell Institute.

Bloggers from the Atlanta Journal Constitution considered Bradwell Institute a joke. During that time, I defended Bradwell Institute stating that Bradwell Institute has a good team. I even stated that the two losses that Bradwell got earlier in the season was due to injuries, and that they have since bounce back beating thier opponents convincingly. Yet no one in the state took Bradwell serious.

Sports Editor Todd Holcomb stated weeks ago that Bradwell Institute wouldn’t make the playoffs in any other Region and would finish last if they were in Region 1-AAAAA. Although Bradwell lost to a Perinnial Power Camden County, they played a heck of a game against them. That defense is one of the best that I have seen in a long time. I had no doubt, that Bradwell Institute could and would beat a good East Coweta High School Football Team.

Bloggers throughout the state including the Massey Computer Rankings and prediction had Bradwell Institute losing to East Coweta. Well Massey was wrong right along with some his other predictions. Bradwell played an exceptional game against East Coweta. The next day in the blogs Bradwell Institute was posted every where with apologies in order. Others were stating that they were a lost for words. Camden County fans stood up, and gave Bradwell Institute a standing ovation when the announcement was made during their playoff game that Bradwell Institute beat East Coweta.

So I say this to Bradwell Institue Tigers football, and Coach Walsh. You all deserved a hand and to be recognized. You have proven to the Sports Critics from the Atlanta Journal Constitution that you are a contender.

Every one is watching Bradwell Institute from around the State and now a lot of them are eating humble pie including Todd Holcomb. There a lot of talk in the Atlanta Journal Constitution about Bradwell Institute. Again, Congrads to all, and this week take it to the Lowndes County Vikings.

Bradwell Institute has earned their respect and admiration throughout the entire State. For more comments, you can go to the Atlanta Journal Constitution and review these comments posted weeks ago up to date.

By hurricanecamden Great job BI. The camden fans cheered when they announced that you guys was winning. I believe that you can give Lowndes a run for thier money if not win. Keep up the great defense and don’t let them wear you down.

Greetings HurricaneCamden,

Thank you for the kind words. I am pretty sure that your acknowledgments were well received or are being well received at this time. It was pure excitement as the clock was ticking down to it’s last seconds as Bradwell Institute Beat East Coweta in Round One of the Class AAAAA Playoffs this past Friday.

As I mentioned weeks ago, I was the only one on this blog bringing recognition to Bradwell Institute against a lot of critics. No one believed me when I stated that Bradwell Institute is a good Football team this year.

I even went on to say that I believe that the Bradwell Institute of this year of players are better than the Bradwell Institute of players of the years past, even when they did have 10-0 Seasons. They (Bradwell Institute Of This Year) have a great defense.

Remember when other bloggers such as ENR, CamdenFan, HSballFan, HsFootballScout, Mistermak, Trojandude, and Todd Holcomb? Remember when the majority of these names that I have just mentioned, stated that Bradwell Institute could not beat anyone outside of Region 3-AAAAA.

Todd Hocomb went on to say that Bradwell Institute “COULD NOT BEAT ANY TEAM OUTSIDE OF THEIR REGION, AND I COULD TELL THAT TO THE PEOPLE OF HINESVILLE

Now that you all have been proven wrong, Let me hear you say it. Region 3-AAAAA went 2-2 in the playoffs instead of 1-3.

Region I believe will go 4-0 with all four teams moving on to round 2 of the playoffs.

Greetings BI Fan,

I took a lot of flack from other supporters for speaking out but I thought others needed to hear what I had to say. I am quite sure that the quiet supporters were glad that I did speak out.

If you read blogger, Hollaback’s comments you will see what I was saying. I agree with him on a lot of points nonetheless, my belief in Bradwell Institute’s Football Team this year in winning remained steadfast.

I knew that they had the talent to win, I just didn’t know whether or not they had then desire to win or whether Coach Walsh was not pushing them hard enough or were the offensive play calling was the problem.

All in all, they have pulled it together since those losses earlier this season, and become the team that they should have been all along.

When the other critics here on this blog did’nt think it could happen, I continued to support Bradwell Institute.

Other bloggers didn’t think that I knew what I was talking about, but at the end of the regular season, and the first round of the playoff, The Bradwell Institute Tigers Football shocked a lot of bloggers, and proved them to be wrong.

This coming Friday, Bradwell Institute will travel down South to face A County of Winning legacies. Lowndes County High School Valdosta Georgia.

The defending Region 1 Class AAAAA 2007 State Champions. The citizens of that County gave the County, and town a Nick-Name called Winnersville. A town where losing is not even in their vocabulary. A town where they have added the 11th Commandment. “THOU SHALT NOT LOSE

No other Town has won more State Titles than this town. If Bradwell Institue expects to just give Lowndes County a game, they will definitely have to augment their offense.

Coach Walsh will definitely have to throw something at this Power of a Football team that they never saw. Bradwell Institute has to keep their defense healthy, and intact as well in order to give Lowndes a game.

Bradwell Institute has the heart. I just hope that they don’t go down there, and allow Lowndes County embarass them. Good Luck Bradwell Institute.

Than you for your comments BI Fan

Slalom let me put it this way at the expense of sounding like I am disrespecting BI. Bradwell offensive yards “first half - 45. Lowndes - 225. Score at half time Lowndes 28 - BI 0. After the first half who knows what the final score will be because by third quarter Lowndes will be making whole sale substitutions. If you press me hard I would say 42-0. Maybe BI scores in the 4th quarter after substitutions.

Jeff - You’re right about Milton’s lack of D. Probably the only teams left we could compete with are Bradwell, Chapel Hill, Lassiter, and maybe NG. We moved two D line guys to O line this year and switched to a 3-4 defense trying to compensate for the lack of size. Smart coaching but it can’t overcome getting beat in the trenches.

Greetings SGA,

I agree with you. I always knew that Region 3-AAAAA Camden County, and Bradwell Institute were better than Region 4-AAAAA Teams all along. I have been saying things of this nature all season long but no one believed me.

Honestly, I truly believe that most of the Metro Atlanta Schools are over - rated. No saying all of them are but the majority of them are. They get all of publicity because of the area in which they are.

They are covered more by the AJC. Most good teams in South Georgia do not get as much publicity as compared to the Schools in Metro Atlanta. But down there in South Georgia, there are some pretty good teams down there that are nor mention until the playoff begins.

Now let speak for a moment about Region 1-AAAAA. This the toughest Region by far in the entire State. Watching them is like watching a College Football game. As I predicted, Region 1-AAAAA wne 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs. I also Predicted that Region 3-AAAAA would go 2-2 in the payoffs.

Cont.

SportsFan31313 commented on Wednesday, Nov 19, 2008 at 15:22 PM

Continued...Round 2 this week will show a difference as the games will definitely be a lot tougher as the rounds progress. I predict Region 1-AAAAA will go 2-2. I predict that the two Teams that will will be knocked out of the playoffs will be Northside Warner Robins, and Tift County.

The two teams are good but I don’t think that Northside Warner can beat such a Perinnial Power as Camden County. Neither do I think that Tift County will defeat Newnan. Camden County has routed its opponents this entire year.

We can definitely say that they not only defeated a per-say weak Region 3-AAAAA, but to qualify them as a Power, they Routed Great teams out of State as well. This team is no joke. I have seen them destroy it’s opponents. They have speed, depth, their are very physical, they know how to execute very well on both sides of the ball.

If Northside Warner Robins doesn’t match speed for speed, talent for talent, depth for depth, I don’t see them even keeping up with this ferocious, and mammonth of a team Camden County. As for Tift County. I can see them giving Newnan a good game, I just don’t see them pulling off the upset.

As for Bradwell Institute, I agree with you. Although Bradwell Institute has a great defense, the problem there is depth of the squad. Bradwell Institute has a stingy Defense, and they hit very hard. The problem I see with Bradwell Institute is the Offensive side of the ball.

They are very sluggish, and they have a problem executing. They have a problem moving the ball. Although they have two great quarterbacks, the 1st string quarterback got hurt last week and the backup pulled it off moving the ball.

Although they do have speed, in order to give Lowndes County a good game, they will have to play very physical on the defense as they have been. They defense has to stay healthy, and intact. They definitely can not give up any yards.

Play just the way they played last week against a good East Coweta team. The offense has to execute their plays better. Coach Walsh is going to have to throw something at this very good Lowndes County team that they never seen before in order to keep it close.

But SGA as you know, this is Georgia Football. Where football is not everything, but the only thing when it comes to sports, and on any given Friday or Saturday night, the best can be beaten. We will have to wait, and see.

Todd Holcomb Says: I didn’t say Bradwell couldn’t beat anybody from another region. I said Bradwell wouldn’t make the playoffs in another region and would finish last in 1-AAAAA.

After the events of last week, I’d say Bradwell would’ve made the playoffs in 4-AAAAA. But still not in regions 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8. And maybe not in 4.

I’m happy for Bradwell and will taste a little humble pie, but I still think that Bradwell is an average AAAAA team, no not as good as some teams that didn’t make the playoffs, like McEachern and Valdosta.

Greetings Todd,

Thank you for your acknowledgments. I will take accept what you gave. I just wanted to prove you wrong this year. He He He He…..

One thing for sure. There has never been as much publicity for Bradwell Institute than it has been this year. One thing for sure, people know who they are now.

As far as those other Region you mentioned, I will give credence to a Good Newnan team. But everyone else in Metro Atlanta, I don’t think they will have even a small chance of beating these South Georgia Schools in the playoffs. In addition, to Region 1-AAAAA. I believe if Bradwell Institute played in Region 1-AAAAA, at the way things look now, I don’t think they would finish last.

Now after observing the Regions you listed, I went back to take a look at those Regions you have listed. After reviewing those Regions I say that Bradwell Institute would have made the playoffs in 2,3,4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Bradwell Institute would have been number or two in any one of those regions you have listed. The ONLY one that I would agree with you is Region1-AAAAA. As I stated before, the Metro Atlanta Schools are over rated.

Bradwell Institute is better than your favorite team McEachern, who didn’t make the playoffs, and probably would have beaten Valdosta this year. But that is a moot case as neither of them made the playoffs.

Hope the humble pie is good……..

To:31313, glad to see you back i have been gone for a minute too. I think you and i were the only ones who knew B.I. would win that 1st round game. I do not think they will beat Lowndes but i hope they can keep it respectable. Like i said before if they were playing AAAA ball they would still be playing along with Brunswick & Statesboro. Coastal Georgia has some great teams they just don’t get the press because they are not in the biggest classification. I will agree, B.I. has a great defense but when you play teams that are deep like Lowndes and Camden fatigue eventually sets in like it did against Camden. B.I.’s offense on the other hand needs alot of work. I think i could copy the ENTIRE playbook on the palm of my hand..lol

By camdenwildcat: GOOD JOB BRADWELL, I STOOD AND CLAPPED WHEN THEY SAID THE SCORE. Amen and agreed! Good for the program and the region. But we’ve already spent too much time talking about that team and that game. In the overall scheme of the state championships, it’s not significant. So despite what I expect will be some considerable chest thumping coming out of Hinesville, let’s try to keep things in perspective, because we have a good idea what happens next.

I agree with you Camden Wildcat. I knew deep down that Bradwell Institute could surpass 11 years of being a one and done team this year.

I must commend Bradwell Institute’s defense for a job very well perfomed. I am sure that Bradwell Institute fans along with the football team, and Coach are celebrating. But after today, it’s done.

They will have to hunker down and practice to meet one of the best football programs in the State, and defending Region 1-AAAAA State champions, Lowndes County, whom they will meet next Friday.

HSBallfan,

I appreciate your warm acknowledgements. And believe it or not, I do agree with you as far as a lot of talking. However; Let the game speak for itself. As far as people spending too much time talking about this game, I say let the team, the coach, and the Bradwell Institute fans do the talking and celebrating for today. They earned it. But after today, Bradwell Institute has put things in it’s perspective, and prepare to play against a great Lowndes County Football team.

I said weeks ago in the blogs that Bradwell Institute is a good team and that the losses they accrued the early season was due to some key players being injured. I also stated that since that time they routed teams in the Region as did Camden County.

While Camden County decisively beat Bradwell Institute, they were the ONLY team that gave Camden County a run for their money, and the defense delivered them hits that have never had this entire season in the 1st half. Camden County has so much depth and talent, Bradwell Institute just could not keep up with such a Power House of players that Camden County have.

With that being said, Bradwell Institute has to keep their defense intact, and dramatically improve their offense if they expect to have any chance of giving a Powerful Lowndes County a competitive game this coming Friday.

Glad to see Coach Walsh get that first round gorilla off his back(still have love for you coach). What is keeping the Tigers competitive is their defense. I think they did well against Camden, considering how long they were on the field. The offense needs some work. I am praying for a miracle against Lowndes, as far as the offense is concerned. Greetings BI Fan,

You know, I really like the Bradwell Institute Tigers Football team. I graduated from there many years ago, and have remained a loyal fan.

It’s just that I am no different than anyone else, who have so much love for his Alma Mater that when you continue to become complacent in your craft you relax, and allow and your level of success to dwindle.

I am quite sure that other Bradwell Institute Fans quietly felt the same way as I did at the beginning of the season but remained quiet.

I decided to speak out when I grew emotionally frustrated at the losess Bradwell Institute acquired at the beginning of the season, yet knowing that Bradwell Institute should have easily won those games regardless some of the injuries they had.

I really knew deep down in my inner soul that Bradwell Institute has a good team this year as evident by their scrimmage against a great Region 3-AAAA Power Statesboro High School, and Bradwell Institute beat them.

T.J. Says: I am at a loss of words about Bradwell winning and Walton losing. I am dissapointed only one region 8 team won their game. Guess Brookwood mom did not rain dance good enough to stop North Gwinnett’s passing game.

Greetings TJ,

Let me give you some good advice for the future.

Rule # 1. Never under-estimate your opponent. Rule # 2. Play like a championship Team. Rule# 3. If you don’t agree with me, Then go back to to Rule #1.

VikingFan Says: And I just hope we can take care of business against Sportsfan 31313’s Bradwell team and go 1-0 again this week, and hopefully host EP in the 3rd round.

Greetings Viking Fan,

That will be a tall call for Bradwell Institute. But in Georgia Football, anything is possible. I just hope Bradwell Institute could give Lowndes a close game and make it interesting.

Far too long, Bradwell Institute has not been given any credit, and it’s about time they get some respect this year that they so well deserve. Bloggers were saying and have already predicted last week which team will win.

They even stated that Region 3-AAAAA would go 1-3 in the first round meaning that Camden County would be the only team out that Region to advance to the 2nd round.

I knew deep down that Bradwell Institute has a good team. I recognized that after those stumbles in the early part of the season. However; no one believed me. Bradwell Institute has a great defense. They only allowed 39 total yards in the 1st half against a good East Coweta High School.

Bradwell Institute really hit hard.I believe they shocked the fans from East Coweta watching that game. That is why I said never under estimate your opponent.

Todd

From my vantage point it would appear that Region 4 AAAAA may not be as strong as some have assumed. Chapel Hill has had a good season, but they are clearly not in the same league as Camden, or even Bradwell for that matter. Both had convincing wis over a very outmatched Windsor Forest team. Bradwell follws it up with a solid win over the #3 seed and Camden….what else needs to be said….49-0 after 3 and pulled the starters. Leads me to think that Tift is very capable of pulling the major upset of the tourney this Friday at Newnan.

To the boneheads who want to put an asterisk next to the Camden wins I can only suggest that he actually come and take a look at the team before he makes any comments. As we have said ad nauseum, Camden can only play who is on their schedule. If coach Herron were not such a nice guy, this team could have demolished scoring records on both sides of the ball. In addition, the did beat a pretty good Norcross team at the Kell(totally shutting down their running attack) and they destroyed the #3 team in Alabama (who is 11-1 and playing in the quarter finals this week). My only suggestion is that if Camden is such a pushover that they try and get them on their non-region schedule, their respective coaches will really like that idea.

Matchup Friday between Camden and Northside is interesting. I don’t believe that NS will be able to effectively move the ball on the Camden D. They are just too deep and too fast (ask Grayson about that from the 3rd round last year). The Camden offensive line has shown tremendous improvement over last year and for the most part has managed to avoid major injuries. I look for Camden to win and advance….going out on a limb here but it would not surprise me if the final was in the 28-0 range…..depends on whether Camden takes care of the football. This is not a knock on NS, just my objective view on the game.

Bradwell will play hard, but I don’t think that they will be able to move the ball effectively against Lowndes. There are some who think that their 31-0 lass to Camden was closer than it looked (if that is possible), but they could not muster an offensive drive and ended up with a little over 100 yards of total offense. They may be ablt to keep it close if Lowndes puts the ball on the ground a lot, but in the end, the talent will win out.

I actually think that the best game of the night may turn out to be Norcross/Woodstock. Norcross has 3 losses, all to teams still playing and Woodstock kas lost 4 games by a total of 16 points. They have not been out of any game they have played this year.

Sportsfan31313 If Tift does their part tonight we’ve done south GA proud! Congrats on your big win. Looking forward to our BIG matchup next Friday.

Do you need driving directions to our stadium? Stay on 84 W thru downtown. You will then pass a Wendy’s on your right, then a McDonalds. Turn right onto Norman Drive just past and right beside McDonalds. The stadium will be on your left.

I really hope EP takes care of Grayson.
That way both Bradwell or Lowndes would host round three! I don’t look forward to driving all the way to Loganville or whatever town it is.

To SportsFan31313

I didn’t say Bradwell couldn’t beat anybody from another region. I said Bradwell wouldn’t make the playoffs in another region and would finish last in 1-AAAAA.

I wish Bradwell was getting as much recognition in Liberty County as it apparently is around the state.

Well Pat,

I don't know why. Why don't you post a blog and find out the real reason as to why? Since the early part of the season I have been watching and observing Bradwell Institute.

I knew that Bradwell Institute has a good football team, I just didn't know whether or not they knew it themselves.
I commented as evident of my blogs and took a lot of flack from two or three bloggers whom responded back.

But that was earlier this season. Since then, I really haven't heard from anyone. Since the Camden County Bradwell Institute game, I have communicated with three others including GrangerByMarriage08, Hollaback, and later BIFan. No one else.

Maybe the people of Hinesville are not interested into topics or blogs of this nature. What I do know is that Bradwell Institute will travel dwn to Lowndes County Valdosta Georgia to face a very good Lowndes County football team.

I hope that Coach Walsh has that offense together. I really believe that Bradwell can give them a good game.
